This week on Tour Tuesday, Team Lyons hits the road across the Quinte region with big news on the HST rebate, a look at new builds in Quinte West, a couple of local favourites, and a full slate of open houses this weekend.
The HST rebate has passed, up to $130,000 back
The big headline this week: the HST rebate has finally passed legislation. If you are thinking about getting into a brand new home, now is the time. Buyers can qualify for up to $130,000 back, on top of the rebate builders already had in place. There are some conditions, and you will not automatically receive the full amount, but depending on your price range you will likely qualify for most of it. On a $500,000 home, that works out to roughly $30,000 in savings as builders roll out their new pricing over the coming week.
New builds in Quinte West
We stopped by the Vanhuizen subdivision in Quinte West, close to the 401 and the gateway to Prince Edward County. The homes are beautiful, the builder quality is bar none, and new pricing is landing this week. Want to see them in person? Joe will be at the model home at 37 Deerview Drive in Woodland Heights this Saturday from 1:00 to 2:30.
Local picks
Two spots worth a visit at the south end of Belleville. One Eye Jacks served up fantastic food and genuinely great service over the Father’s Day weekend. And if you are feeling crafty, The Kiln lets you paint your own ceramic pottery, with a glass studio nearby too.
Good news for buyers: development charges
Belleville City Council has applied to decrease development charges, which is a real positive for buyers. Lower charges help bring builder prices down, which helps you get into the home you want. Our ask to Quinte West Council: please do the same so the area does not get left behind.
