We tour the houses so you don’t have to. We were out early this week and got through a whole bunch of homes, with a couple more still to go when we hit record. Most of them were in East Hill, and a few were really unique.
The standout was an old East Hill cottage that no longer looks anything like a cottage. It has been done up into a beautiful, modern home with super high ceilings, all on one level. There is a basement too, an old limestone one that is still unfinished, which is a nice reminder of what the house used to be.
We also saw a lot of cute brick bungalows. They are not new builds, but they are new to the market, and there seem to be more of them every week.
The fall market is on its way
New listings are coming on, which is exciting. It means more buyers are getting out there, and if your home is already for sale, that is good news for you too. Showing requests are picking up. It is happening a little slower than some years, but it is happening.
The kids are back in school, the bus routes and pickups are getting sorted out, and most families are settling back into a routine. The nights are cooler, it is nice sleeping weather again, and you can finally turn the AC off.
One complaint from the front seat: black flies in September. A weekend of yard work came with a lot of bites. If anyone knows who we should take that up with, besides Mother Nature, let us know.
Open house at 1567 Clearview Road
This one is a custom build by Van Huizen Homes, and they did a great job. You have to come see the fireplace. There is a huge island, big black windows across the back of the house, and every kind of heat you could ask for: in-floor heat, a heat pump and propane. It sits on a big lot of just over three acres in a great location.
You can meet the builder this Saturday. Van Huizen Homes will be at the house from 10 AM to 1 PM. If you have questions about building a home, or you want to see the quality of their work up close, stop by. They are the team that built this one, and they are doing a draw as well.
